I Love Charley Brown is the tenth studio album by American country music artist, Connie Smith. The album was released in April 1968 and was produced by Bob Ferguson. The album contained three Top 10 hit singles Smith had between 1967 and 1968.
Background
I Love Charley Brown was a studio album containing twelve tracks. It contained four songs written by songwriter, Dallas Frazier: "Run Away Little Tears," "Sunshine of My World," "I Love Charley Brown," and "Between Each Tear." Frazier had material for many of Smith's previous albums. The album was recorded at the RCA Victor Studio in Nashville, Tennessee between 1967 and 1968. The release was issued on a 12-inch LP record, containing six songs on each side of the record. The album was reviewed by Allmusic, which rated it three out of five stars. No written review however was provided.[2]
Release
I Love Charley Brown spawned three singles between 1967 and 1968. The first single, "Burning a Hole in My Mind" (1967) reached #5 on the Billboard Magazine Hot Country Songs chart. This was followed by the second single, "Baby's Back Again" which peaked at #7 on the same chart, and thirdly, "Run Away Little Tears," which reached #10 on Billboard's chart. The album itself also reached a peak position. I Love Charley Brown reached #14 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart shortly after its release in 1968.[3]
